Moths

This group of over 10,000 insects include some of the largest and most beautiful moths in the world. Coscinocera hercules is arguably the largest of all moths and the genera Milionia and Alcidis some of the most beautiful. Many other groups such as the Geometrids offer a wide variety of design and colour.

Good reference books include "Moths of Australia" by B. D ABrera and "Insects of the World" by Linsenmaeier. General text books on moths such as the Collins Eye Witness Guide series have a volume on butterflies and moths which although not comprehensive, offer a general insight to some PNG moths. "Insects of Australia" by the CSIRO also covers some moths of Papua New Guinea

Two particularly good references are "Butterflies of the Australasian Region" by B. DABrera and "Butterflies of Papua New Guinea" by M. Parsons
